Grading rubric for reaction papers

As you know, the first reaction paper is due by the beginning of lecture this Friday, September 18. We will collect hard copies in class, and you must submit an electronic version to Turnitin through E-Learning. Here are two documents to assist you in putting the finishing touches on your papers:

Together, these documents should give you a clear sense of what we expect from you and how your papers will be evaluated. The grading scheme has been designed with an eye toward improving your skills as a writer, and your TAs will work with you to ensure that your writing continues to improve over the course of the semester.

If you have any last-minute questions about the assignment, please contact your TA or leave a comment here.

How would you like us to actually title our paper? I know you want an MLA heading, but for the paper’s name, should we just keep it as “Reaction Paper Number One” Or could it say something like “Reaction Paper: Circumcision”?
    Thank you! Kelly Chirico

Do we also double-space the heading on the paper? And does that count towards part of our two pages?

Does the paper have to be turned into e-learning at a specific time?

    Dr. Gravlee,
I am having a hard time accessing the articles via ARES. I have created an account and when I proceed to try and add this course I can’t find it. I tried searching for it by department and it didn’t come up, I tried searching by instructor and your name wasn’t on the list, and I tried searching by course number and had no results. So how can I add the class on ARES and gain access to the articles?

@Kelly: We do not specifically require a title for the reaction papers, but it is good practice to develop a descriptive title gives the reader a preview of what your paper is about.

@Emily: If you use a title, it should probably fit on one line; you may use single space for the title if it runs over. Please double-space after the title.

@Sarah: Yes, the paper must be submitted to e-learning before lecture tomorrow.

@Josh: It would have been better to hear about this problem when the readings were assigned a few weeks ago, but better late than never. I suggest you call the librarians at course reserves for help: (352) 273-2520. Let us know what they say.

    Thank you,
they were able to help me find and add the class, it wasn’t exactly where it was expected to be though, and they didn’t know why your name wasn’t/isn’t on the instructors list.

When submitting my paper to turnitin, do i have to include the title, my name, discussion leader, section number etc in the header or do i just leave that on the cover page that i physically submit?
